oil painting of clieves hills, ormskirk
by Roy Munday
This is the river Severn, near Framilode, where I was born and brought up. The distant hills are the Forest of Dean. When doing this painting, the tide was coming up the river, a wave across the river. The Severn is known for its bore - a tidal wave that sweeps up the river, with a water rise of some 20 feet in under an hour! The tide on this day was very modest.
